A few days left till exulting sounds of karnays and sunrays marking the beginning of "Asrlar sadosi" (Sounds of Centuries), first festival of traditional culture which is to take place on May 3-4, 2008. Yesterday at dawn a big "caravan" departed for the holiday place, Kitab district of Kashkadarya region, in order to bring its guests, participants, journalists and all admirers of Uzbek (Uzbekistan Visa) art there. The festival's organization committee says that everything is ready to receive the guests. The small town, where Uzbek (Uzbekistan Visa) craftsmen will set down their colorful tents during the festival, is located on picturesque spaces of this ancient land. "I think that this festival will help to study, conserve, revive and develop many national and traditional arts", noted Elmira Ahmedova, director of the "Forum of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan" Foundation's Center of National Arts. "Nearly 80 masters expressed interest to participate in it. We would like to show at this festival the diversity of Uzbek (Uzbekistan Visa) applied art. Each tent is to present certain type of arts and master to create their works there". This real art holiday will describe diversity of Uzbek (Uzbekistan Visa) customs and traditions, applied art and national meals and unique oral and intangible heritage of Uzbekistan. A competition of folklore staffs will be held at the amphitheater there. The festival's big and varied program also includes folk games, "kupkari" (Uzbek (Uzbekistan Visa) equestrian sport) demonstrative fights of kurashists, cock fights and performances of rope-walkers. Tasters will be pleased with a competition of Uzbek (Uzbekistan Visa) national meals for the best chefs from Andijan, Ferghana, Jizzak, Kashkadarya and Syrdarya regions and Tashkent (Uzbekistan Tours) city. The festival will separately present Kashkadarya region whose craftsmen are to show their skills and arts. Certainly, the national culture and traditions are tightly connected with historical suits, fashion and design. One of the most interesting and spectacular events in the festival is the Exhibition of National Dress where young designers will participate with their collections in the "Ethno" style. The exhibition is very impressive and interesting because it is first of all in open air. All types of art presented in the festival will be organically connected with each other and historical wear undoubtedly embraces culture as well and textile art and juwelry, accessories and certainly historical suits. We plan to exhibit 10 collections of 77 models. Here both professional and young designers from Tashkent (Uzbekistan Tours), Surkhandarya, Bukhara and Namangan will participate in it. Nearly 5 thousand people are to take part in the festival. Amateur and professional singers, musicians, clowns, designers, artists, popular craftsmen, national cookers and guests: cultural workers of Uzbekistan and foreign countries, representatives of diplomatic corps and international organizations are among them. We should stress that young talents who are laureates of the "Kelajak ovozi", "Yangi avlod" Children's Art Festival and other youth projects of the "Forum of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan" Foundation will participate both in competition programs and as volunteers involved while preparing for the festival and holding it. The festival is to end with a big gala concert and rewarding ceremony of winners.
