Since 1971, Rene Cagnat couldn't resist the idea of returning to The Silk Road. It was his first acquaintance with the magic of this region's nature and its people that later promoted him to start writing.
Last year Rene Cagnat, a former military attache in the USSR, the Balkans, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, published his second book on Central Asia titled "Asie Centrale - visions d'un familier des steppes". "This book is the result of my incredible attraction to this region with extreme landscapes", Rene said.
It covers the Aral Sea and its beauty in bygone days, it shows the magnificence of sunrise when rays illuminate the silver steppes, and it illustrates the amazing nomadic world with its unique customs and traditions. In his book, Mr.Cagnat included Xinjiang, China because in the past it was a part of the territory of eastern Turkestan. Today, Xinjiang has Chinese influence, but it hasn't lost its historical roots.
Rene Cagnat took all the pictures for this book. "I never stop shooting pictures when I travel", he says.
