Uzbekistan is developing several transportation routes in the framework of the Great Silk Road revival initiative within the ?R????A programme, which includes three directions.
The first route, which is already operational, links Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Georgia with exit to Caspian Sea. The second project will connect Kazakh port Aktau and Azerbaijan. The third transport route is expected to connect Ustyurt in northwestern Uzbekistan with Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine with a final destination of Hamburg port.
Uzbekistan is also participating in rehabilitation of Afghanistan's transport infrastructure. Uzbek builders already have constructed 10 bridges in this country. Signing of the three-side agreement among Uzbekistan, Iran and Afghanistan on construction of a transport corridor will allow Uzbekistan and other countries of Central Asia to exit to Persian and Oman Gulfs and the Indian Ocean.
