Festival of Films created at film-studious of the Great Silk Road countries takes place in New York Lincoln Center with a big success. Retrospective featuring of films under a title "Films of the Great Silk Road countries" was organized by Film Society of Lincoln Center under the active support of Institute of Open Society (Soros Fund).
More and more people in America show their real interest in culture of Silk Road countries. And this Festival has become a significant event in cultural life of New York. More than forty films of produces from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan are presented on it. But for all that, organizers have selected for the featuring not only films of famous masters but works of young cinematographers who had declared about themselves already during the years of independence.
Speaking on the solemn opening of the Festival, the Uzbek film producer Mr.Ali Khamraev stressed that the Great Silk Road once stretching from Japan and China to Europe, nowadays reaches America. And if earlier this great caravan route promoted exchange of goods and scientific knowledge but now we exchange the spiritual and cultural values which helps our peoples to find out each other better.
